This is where Karen gets to brag about her niece, Shayla. Shayla did all the illustrations on Karen's website. She's thrilled to have such a talented artist in the family. Shayla is currently an undergraduate at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She hopes to graduate in December with two BA degrees. One in studio art with a focus in painting and the other in art history with a specialization in 19th and 20th century art.

Her work in painting has been mainly centered around illustration. Currently she is experimenting with ink, using her fingers instead of a brush. She's doing her undergraduate thesis in art history on the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and how their work, and the literature upon which their work was based, relate to the image and role of women in Victorian society.
